Montreal Canadiens look for winning ways

In the Montreal Canadiens there is a difficult decision about whether to trade or rewrite Max Pacioretty. If they keep their captain, what would it cost?

Montreal Canadiens disappointed with 2017-18. Max Pacioretty, captain of the team, was also far from the best this season. The American winger has strengthened himself as one of the best scorers in the game, but has not helped this reputation in the last 12 months.

It all started with the fact that Pacioretty went down in last year's season. Canadiens entered the playoffs in 2017 with the opportunity to go on the run. They were on top of a weak Atlantic division and should not have encountered Tampa Bay Lightning, which surprisingly missed the playoffs.

Their rival in the first round will be the New York Rangers, a team of wildcards. If they can advance in the last round, they will take on either the Boston Bruins, or the Ottawa Senators, the two teams in which they dominated during the regular season.

Nevertheless, the Habs did not take advantage of their relatively easy route to the Eastern Conference final. Instead, they collapsed after taking the series 2-1 and lost to the Rangers in six hard-challenged games.

Most of the guilt fell on Pacioretty. It was difficult to do business against those who threw all the blame on the captain's way. In six games, the left winger held zero, scoring just one help in the series.

Canadiens' Jacob de la Rose

Jacob de la Rosa Canadiens won the gold medal at the IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships with the Swedish team over the weekend. Sweden beat Switzerland 3: 2 in a shootout on the last last Sunday, which also became the 23rd birthday of De la Rosa. The TSN hockey club analyst Ray Ferraro covered the World Cup and watched de la Rose when he scored one goal, added an assistant and was a plus-2 in 10 tournament games.

How the Mike Hoffman trade impacts Max Pacioretty

In the NHL, transactions start taking place, and the last deal with Mike Hoffman may bring more connections to Montreal Canadiens for Max Pacioretty. NHL was kindled on Tuesday morning, and Montreal Canadiens were not its source. The morning began with senators from Ottawa who traded with Mike Hoffman from San Jose Sharks. For some, it was surprising, considering that there are ice problems now, but Pierre Dorion managed to find an eager one.

Younger fans lack memories of a Cup-winning squad

We are now so far away from the last Stanley Cup parade along the usual route that the entire Montrealer generation grew up without knowing the intense euphoria that accompanies the championship season. It is a pity, because getting titles was once a part of life here, like urban corruption and a cross on the royal mountain. We would be waiting there for the first floats, and then for the trail along with the players to Peel and further. It always struck me that at this time of year, when most people had healthy tan, the triumphant Canadiens were always pale as ghosts and covered with welts and bruises on their faces, necks and shoulders.
